We are headed to Hungary tonight, actually, this morning at 4:05 am. We're on vacation number two. Vacation number three comes at the end of the month. We only had four days this week, and now, vacation thanks to the Coptic Christmas and then the Muslim, Eid.
Not much has been going on really. Just a few interesting "Cairo-esque" stories. First, we thought it was pretty cute the other night - we passed a group of little kids in the street. They were shy about Leia at first, but then decided to pet her a little. We walked by them a little later, and they all cried out, "Habibi!" That, of course, means, "My love!" It was pretty cute seeing them calling out "my love" to our dog. We couldn't imagine this happening in the U.S.
Another truly Cairo experience. Our water heater hose has been leaking. We were due for something else to break. Joe's been referring to his bathroom as the rainforest since the hose leaks like a shower and sprays a mist all over the small bathroom. So, what do you do when something's broken? Go try to find the shop that has the right parts. We found the shop. The man sold Joe a new hose, but also some tape. We weren't quite sure what this tape was for until we hooked up the hose and it (the new one) started leaking. Only in Egypt would they sell you a new hose that leaks as well as the tape to fix the new hose. Oh, Egypt. It's the small things...
We're excited to have a little vacation in a cold place, so Joe can get his fill of winter. Unlike our trip to Prague last year, we actually have winter coats this year. It should be a much more enjoyable trip that way. We'll have to post and put up pictures as soon as we get back. I also promise more pictures of my tummy in a couple weeks, as I've finally started to look a little pregnant.
